Ok I am planning on using my old Pentium3 1ghz 512mb computer and a pair of 3com nics as a firewall/router/cache server using Ipcop. My first question is what kind of Wan->Lan throughput can i expect to get from a setup like this? Second question is how is the performance of this kind of setup compared to the commercially available routers in the $100 range such as the Dlink dg4100 or Linksys rvs4000??? I guess really what i want to know is if there is really any benefit to using IPcop and an old PC over a store bought router??
thanks
Frank

I like the upgradeability, the increased speed over my old router and the more options it offers me.
