Hi, I have ordered all other parts except MB&PS. I will be upgrading from P3 650mhz, BE6II, voodoo3 card

so far I got the following items:
E6600
Tuniq Tower 120
Radeon x1950XT
2X 1GB Super Talent DDR2-800
COOLERMASTER MINI R120
Seagate 400GB SATA drive+ Maxtor Maxline pro 500GB SATA
SB X-Fi Platinum

any recommendation for MB? I wasn't sure if I should get P5B deluxe or 965P-DS3. Do you think e-SATA will be any benefitial at all?
I can wait some more if there will be any hot MB releaseing soon.

Thanks for your help! :D

opps it was my 1st post

with your E6600 I would probably go for a 975X based board like the DFI Infinity.
If you still want to look at 965 then also look at the abit AB9 QuadGT, it's a flyer.

i had the exact same parts 7 years ago man  BE6II was the best at the time , i had the P3 600 coppermine CPU though.I paid more for CPU-Mobo then than i did 2 months ago.I imagine what performance warp you are going to get into
Anyway , both boards are good , i have the P5B Dlx ,very good.If you go for the DS3 make sure its a rev. 2 ( i heard they have rev. 3 out as well).

I just got DS3 (rev3.3)! could wait for Gigabyte 650i anymore..

anyways, some problem while installing hardware....Tuniq tower 120 does not fit in my case(Altium X)!!! my side case cover doesnt close.. 8O

what should I do?
1) leave the side cover open
2) buy another case
3) or buy another CPU cooler that fits in my case

Tuniq is monster...

Are you going to Overclock? I'm assuming that you are due to the HSF. I ordered the DS3 because of the good results most people have been getting. It's supposed to provide excellent results with minimal effort. Mine will arrive by Fed Ex elf today. I'll post my results in the e4300 over clock when I'm done.

Yes , those coolers are a problem for some cases. If you can spare some cash i would recommend going for another case and keep the cooler.Or you can mod your case (open a hole where the cooler touch the case and close it with some fancy plastic globe for example).I have the Zalman 9700 which is huge also , so i bought a stacker 831 (i had the Wavemaster before that-btw that was a great case) but with 4 12cm fans installed , i get around 40 C inside , which for that case is very bad i think.Dont have time to look at it right now but i`ll find a solution (more fans i guess :) ).

Im OP but, my pc is running fine.. I haven't overclocked yet.

Quick question, on my SpeedFan, the TEMP1=38C, and TEMP2=43C, Core0+1=56-57C, is this normal? or do I need to re-seat my Tuniq Tower 120 and CPU?

Thx again

I re-seated the Tuniq, and now my temps drops 10C.
the TEMP1=34C, and TEMP2=32C, Core0+1=45-47C. Hope thats good enough..

Anyways, one question on Audio. I still havent installed X-Fi Platinum yet, currently using DS3 on-board audio, and feel that it sounds really good.
bit can you tell me if X-FI Platinum is much better than on-board sound?

thx :D

Abit AB9 Pro

I am a novice overclocker.

It can not be any easier than with the AB9 Pro. It allowed me to use the uGuru utility to "learn" about overclocking in the beginning. After my initial learning period, I then overclocked in the bios.

I have an Intel C2D 2.13GHz running at 3.0GHz on the stock air cooler (110 degrees F running under max load with Orthos stress tester).
