Hi

This is probably a stupid question but some advice would be appreciated. I have just put together a 'basic' workstaion using twin dual core xeon processors (5060). Hyperthreading is switched on in the bios. When I boot into windows the performance monitor in task manager sees 4 cores, when hyperthreading is switched off it only sees two. Is this because Windows sees each cpu and not each core?
Also in 3D Studio Max, when using Vray it only renders with 4 buckets when HT is on, for some reason I was expecting 8. I am I expecting too much??

Cheers

I do believe Windows should see 8 cpu's in the task manager. At least in this article the same system did.

Since you said when you turned hyperthreading off you only seen two I would assume that one of the Xeon's is not being seen, or is disabled or something.
