Well, for some reason whenever I try to listen to something on the computer I can always hear electrical noises in the speakers when something is loading. Is this because I'm using onboard sound? Will getting a sound card eliminate this? My system consists of:

Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3
XFX Nvidia 7600gt
Pentium Core 2 Duo 2.13Ghz
Antec Truepower 2 550 Watt PSU
2 Gig Corsair XMS DDR2 800

I get the same on mine with quite a few games...I have an Audigy 2 so I guess the problem also occurs when you have a card.

Interesting to see what it might be

Mine are the old Logitech z-640's and are all plugged into the back of the sub which then connects to the soundcard outlets....

Yes, likely bad shielding. Could also be a symptom of the power circuit your machine is on nearing overload, or that you need a GFI circuit.
I once had an old Fender Reverb amp w a foot switch. The foot switch was so badly shielded it would pick up radio stations. If you're hearing a steady hum, you have a ground loop running through your speakers.
