Bluetooth Networking Reconnection

Hi,

Hoping someone can help. I'm running a HP Ipaq using the bluetooth
networking feature.

My problem is, if the ipaq switches off and then back on again, i lose
my bluetooth network connection. Bluetooth itself stays awake but my
network connection needs to be re established.

Does anyone know how to have the connection reconnect automatically?

Thanks in advance.

Mauricio,

Would 802.11b be an alternative? If I were to buy a 802.11b access
point and connect via wifi I assume it will automatically stay
connected?

Also, as a side question, what's the power consumption difference
between btooth and 802.11b? My main motivation for using bluetooth is
it's low power consumption.

BTW, had a look at your site http://www.geekzone.co.nz heaps of good
info!!!!

Thanks in advace, . . . rd

Hello RainDog...

There's no automatic reconnection available...

Yes, Wireless LAN will automatically reconnect to a preferred Access Point
if it is available. There are also a couple of free and a few paid software
to search for access points, although the built-in Wireless LAN Config on
Windows Mobile 2003 does its job - note I didn't say "good job" ;-)

Although I use lots of Bluetooth, these days I tend to have it for GPRS
connection and mouse/keyboard on my tablet PC, for ActiveSync and file
transfer. For network connection I use Wi-Fi, because of speed and range.

In terms of power you'll notice the battery going down rather quickly with
Wi-Fi (I use a h4150), but it can sustain a continuous two hours use before
I have to recharge it. This is a lot, seeing that most PDA users tend to
turn it on/off. Of course if you're reading an ebook you will leave Wi-Fi
off to help save battery. All relative.

Thanks for visiting the site too :)
