A few days ago I purchased the US Digital HDTV Receiver from Wal-Mart for
$200 and a Terk HDTV Indoor antenna from Circuit City for $40.
I wasn't satisfied with the reception I was getting with the Terk indoor
antenna, and so, I bought Radio Shack's amplified indoor HDTV antenna for
$50.
I am happy to say that the Radio Shack antenna is pulling in all my local
over the air HDTV stations -- big improvement over the Terk. The Terk was
only bringing in about 1/3 of the available HDTV channels.
You will find the Radio Shack antenna that I purchased at:

I'm sure it won't be the first TERK return they've had. I have to wonder
how much longer stores are going to continue carrying TERK antennas. If
this newsgroup is any barometer, the return ratio must be greater than
50%.
My own guess is a lot of the ones that aren't getting returned are kept
simply because doing a return is too inconvenient. Maybe these are the
ones people report finding in an occasional yard sale. ;-)
I'm beginning to believe that if a TERK works for someone, then so too
would a screwdriver blade held against the antenna terminal on the back of
the set.

That bow-tie and reflector actually look like a functional, directional
gain antenna on UHF!

I don't know if anyone else may have the same problem with the Terk, so I
post here in case: I, too, was disappointed in the quality of reception I
was getting, and was just about to return it to CC when I noticed that when
you engage the blade of the antenna into the hole on the stand, it seems to
bottom out as if plugged in all the way when it isn't. By giving it a
slight wiggle and applying pressure, there is a definite "click" when it
engages fully. Reception was dramatically improved, and I get all of my
local stations just fine now. Before the thorough connection, I could only
get 3 of the 8. May be worth checking to see if its fully engaged.

When I got my new HDTV I tried using my old indoor antenna and had great
results. It is an older radio shack amplified antenna that has 2 silver
extendable antenna with 1 round O shaped thing in the middle. Several
stations are perfect with 90%+ signal level.

The main reason that I did not try a Zenith Silver Sensor antenna is that I
was told that it does not have a VHF antenna -- only UHF, which is where
most HD channels reside.
However, the local NBC channel is VHF and that's the main channel I want
OTA. Therefore, I needed a VHF antenna as well as UHF.
