When i add an domain user into the local administrators group in a client
system of windows2000,I am facing an error.

The error is as following.
"The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted"

But i can contact the other systems in the network and this particular
system is in the domain itself. Even i can access the secured servers through
the system and the particular user ID

Please give me some answer ASAP
Thanks

Double check the dns settings for that computer to make sure it is using
only Active Directory domain controllers running dns and containing the
domain zone as it's preferred dns server and as shown via Ipconfig /all.
Verify that it can ping that domain controller by IP address and fully
qualified domain name as in dc1.mydomain.org as an example of a FQDN. Also
check Event Viewer on that computer for any pertinent clues and run the
support tool netdiag on it looking in particular for errors/failed tests for
dns, dc discovery, kerberos, and trust/secure channel and to see if any
ipsec policy is assigned to the computer. If you change dns settings be
sure to run the commands ipconfig /flushdns and ipconfig /registerdns when
done before trying to add the domain user to the administrators group again.
Verify that the net logon, workstation, dhcp client, dns client, tcp/ip
netbios helper, and RPC services are all running on the client computer.
Sometimes a reboot can also help. --- Steve
