I'm here for a quick question. I just received my new dual-boot PC (XP 32bit and Vista Home Ed. 64bit) yesterday. That PC is super fast when compare to my old Northwood 3.0GHZ, but that's not the point of my post anyway.
The side fan of my case if loud, and I mean LOUD!. It looks like it's scratching the side panel. I have two choice. 1: I find a way to fix this, so find where the scratching comes from. I'll look into this when my brother will go back home sunday. 2: If it's normal, I'll simply do without it and disconnect it.
So, did anybody here had that problem and what did you do? I want to get a head start for when I'll pinpoint the source of that problem.
Your best bet is to open the case and find the fan thats making that sound and remove it and see what is interfering with the fan. I had once a floopy cable rubbing against my top 80mm fan.
I had the Armor for a couple of days now and I didn't hear any strange sounds at all. You could check if the power cable for the side fan isn't loose, because the fan blades might be scratching it.
I got home and relaxed before I took time to look at it. It was only the 4 "screws" on the side fan that were left loose. I tighten them (not too much as to break it) and now it's whisper quiet.
What a difference a solid case can do over my previous generic tower self-modified to add 2 side fan (80 and 92mm) and one front one (80 mm). We're talking loud enough to be disturbing when looking at a video on mid-volume... to "I have to pay attention to ear it" WOW!
I recommand that case to anybody that can afford it. It's not that I'm rich, but I was patient enough to put 200$ more aside before buying my new PC.
