| Quote : Six weeks from now, the world will get the first retail Radeon X2900 XTX
|
| Quote : ATI guidance claims the X2900 XTX retail card comes as a two-slot, 9.5" design with a vapor chamber cooler. Vapor chambers are already found on high-end CPU coolers, so it would be no surprise to see such cooling on a high-end GPU either. The OEM version of the card is a 12" layout and features a quiet fan cooler.

ah yes this is what i have been trying to tell the fools who have thought
the r600 is a big card.
let the video card war begin!
I just hope that we can see some great prices from this competition.

me too but i dont think prices will change too much.
If anyone is interested in vapor chamber technologies, check out these two links:

My buddy who owns an 8800 aswell, was basically tripping out cause he just bought the card a month ago and it will be trumped by another card already.
I don't see it that way. My GTS will still play everything on max smoothly, so what if thiers a newer better card. The 8800's are still a beast. Its just getting crazy with these cards now. I don't think the actual technology in games can catch up to the graphic processing power on these card. 8O

there is always something better.
and most of the games are miles ahead of the videocards.
they always are.
You mean the videocards are miles ahead of the games.
He doesn't know what he means.

what videocard or cpu can play f.s.x. at max res.?
i just went to a 1680x1050 lcd monitor from a 10x7 monitor.
and am using a 68gt. i thought fsx was tough on my 10x7
but it and oblivion kick the $hit out of my 68gt on the
new monitor
Guessed as much.
You said MOST games. FSX is the ONE game that will make a top-of-the-line system beg for mercy. All the rest (including Oblivion) are playable at full detail on highend systems. So yes, videocards are miles ahead of most games.
| Quote : All the rest (including Oblivion) are playable at full detail on highend systems. |
yes true, now, but it still beats up on newer sys with high resolutions.

whats "F S X" ?
i was getting 140 fps in f.e.a.r. with one 68gt at 10x7
now i get 70 fps at 16x10 8O .
flight sim x the newest one.
the older ones were more cpu bound but the new is everything bound
"F S X" is the only thing an X6800 with SLI 8800GTX's is scared of.
@sir heck: Well, you more than doubled the number of pixels, so you shouldn't be that surprised.
Mr. Heck's got a point. Up until the 8800 series, oblivion was a bitch. And I still haven't seen any benchies for fear with soft shadows enabled that show any good FPS (everything else maxed out of course).

we know it always require microsoft expertice in doing amazing andmonstrous sized code to slowdown the most powerful pc!just like every version of windows XD

I find that hard to believe. Maybe 800x600 on low-med settings.

What heck said was:

Two games don't make up "most" of the market.
But yes, there is some truth to his original statement.
didn't we already discuss the cooler in my thread though
| Quote : "F S X" is the only thing an X6800 with SLI 8800GTX's is scared of.

no not too suprised. bf2 fear still play good but oblivion and fsx still
are kinda slow and jerky.
i like high settings though.

that was at 10x7 and max fps.
avg was around 70 to 80.
now its max of 70 and avg of 40
i have played at 19x12 but didnt ever check fps.
this was on my 32inch hdtv and i rarely hook my comp
up too it though.
Really? I always thought games are ahead of videocards. I mean they could make the best of graphics but they have to dim them down so that people would actually be able to play them or else nobody would buy.

considering most games are now being programmed for consoles and then HORRIBLY ported to pcs, id say NO
remember its easy to ask the user to have a super beefy computer than to hire a lot of programmers to port correctly, take the example of Ubisoft, they only port.. and make horrible ports

f.s. was out before any console was though.
including the atari 2600.
that reminds me, how do you like the sceptre
I can't wait to get one of these babies in my PC if they're as good as AMD claims.
i like it.
its a little more grainy than my 17 inch crt dell and a lot more than my
32icnh hdtv.
for movies that is.
for gaming it is great. though games like oblivion and fsx
i need a newer gpu.
more room on my desk.
overall its worth it over the old big crt.
the crt does have a better pic though.
I think that's because of the offset res, not because of the quality of the monitor though
one thing, i can only play bf2 at 12x10 not 16x10.
it doesnt go any higher.
i thought there was a patch out for that?
and fear says its not optimized for 16x10 but it plays?
That's strange, may be because you run it at 1650*1080 instead of 1600*1200, it might not support your divider

yeah the native on my moitor is 1680x1050 kinda wierd.
I'm wondering. Why does everyone have a userbar? Is it because of me?
PS.

i dont have a userbar?
A lot of people do....
I have one because ninja told me to install the DaClan bar a bit before he decided I could become a member, but everyone else kinda followed him and you and wusy
And I think the reason why your monitor is at native 1650*1080 is because of the wide screen, only full screens operate at 1600*1200 or 4:3, think of the shape of the monitor, at full screen, it's compared to a base length, 4 times it up, and 3 times it down, while your monitor since it's wide screen, it has some funky monkey divider

Yup, it the answer to all of life's problems.

| Quote : hell i thought it was a 49.99 product. |
Technically, it can be had for free.....
