I have a laptop that I purchased used off of ebay. It runs windows 2000
Professional and I didn't get any disc with it. It runs on a wireless
network. When I start up I get the error message as follows: Windows File
Protection Files that are required for Windows to run properly have been
replaced by unrecognized versions. To maintain system stability, Windows
must restore the original versions of these files. Insert your Windows 2000
Professional CD Now ( which I don't have)I click cancel and I get the
following message You choose not to restore the original versions of the
files. This may affect Windows stability. Are you sure you want to keep
these unrecongnized file versions? I click yes.... I get on line after that
but when I try to get on a web site I get the following security alert....
Information you exchange with this site cannot be viewed or changed by
others. However, there is a problem with the site's security certificate (
then I get three different sentences as follows)
(yellow exclamation point) The security certificate was issued by a
company you have not chosen to trust. View the certificate to determine
whether you want to trust the certifying authority
(green check mark) The securitycertifcate date is valid
(green check mark) The security certificate has a valid name matching the
name of the page you are trying to view\
Do you want to proceed?
I click yes and it comes up again and again then I click no a few
times....it takes me forever to get this message off and continue with the
website.
All this started when I tried to set up my outlook express mailing
capabilities on this laptop. I remember changing some settings....but I
can't remember what I did. Whatever I did didn't fix the outlook
express....I still can't send anymail thru the laptop,,,I get the
error....The host "comcast" could not be found. Please verify that you have
entered the server name correctly. Account "comcast" Protocol: SMTP, Port 25
Secure(SSL) No socket Error: 11001, Error Number 0x800CCCOD
