Hey folks. I have a USB Sony DVDRW. I'm just finishing up my new build and it dawned on me... I can't install Windows without a functioning internal CD/DVD drive. I have an internal DVD player and a CDRW from my old rig I could take out and put in, no problem.

I was planning on using the Sony DVDRW for all my CD/DVD needs. This won't work via USB until I have Windows installed, correct? Or is there a work around of any sort? Like I said I can take a drive from this computer if need be, but now curiosity has hit me.

Thoughts?

Will your bios boot from a removable device? I would try that but im iffy if it would work. Just pull the drive from the other rig.

What's the specs? Most modern mobos can be set up in bios to boot from removable drives like usb thumb drives. Enable USB legacy & Boot from removable or Try other boot devices.
