I have Verizon DSL with the Westell 6100 modem and a Liksys WRT54G router going to another computer hardwired with a 50ft. ethernet cable and a XBOX 360 hardwired with ethernet and thats right next to the modem.
Now my problem is whenever I play a game on the computer or the XBOX my DSL disconnects usually within 10 mins or so sometimes more sometimes less. So today I went online and downloaded the newest Firmware for the router and the problem got worse. Now it's like every couple minutes I get disconnected on both systems.
My systems specs for the computer I play all my games on is:
Pentium D 805
Gigabyte 8NSLI
Nvdia 7900 GT
2 gigs of DDR2 533mhz RAM
250 GB HDD
520W PSU
the other computer is just a basic Dell
Does anyone have any advice?? I tried to get help from Verizon but the astronauts over there just had me on the phone for 2 hours with no solutions.
Yes, I agree with Folken. Bypass the router and connect directly to the modem. See if your problems are gone. Try using different cables otherwise. It could be that the modem is bad. You would have to try a different one in that case.
