Issue with new build - 680imb and e6600

Hi folks,

Just finished setting things up - evga nforce 680i motherboard, e6600 cpu, evga 8800gtx, and things were looking fantastic.

Weirdest thing, though....I booted it up after running it for 12 hours, and it had lost all its cmos settings?

I reloaded the defaults and it seemed to do the trick, but why on earth would this have happened? It's a little disconcerting..

Bad battery perhaps? I wouldn't worry about it unless it happens again, but the first thing I would check is the battery.

Congrats on getting one of the many issues with 680i. I've warned people about this. 965 is the most stable c2d platform.

What were you doing before losing bios settings?

Nothing, that's the disturbing part. I powered it down, hooked up another pc to the same display/kb, when i hooked the new one back in, i knew something was off because it did the extended memory check.

Hasn't happened since, but what a pain in the ass once I overclock the bloody thing.

Ok I think that's it. You overclock it & lose bios settings? It's quite common over at evga forums.

nah, the loss took place before I adjusted anything in the bios except the floppy disk type. Sadly.
