Can anyone point me in the right direction how this is accomplished? I'm
just bought my first ever PPC (HP 4700) and facing a steep learning curve
with getting everything set up. I've set up wireless access etc and am able
to browse the internet however I would like to have direct access to network
shares on my PC. I've tried the "network share" option in file explorer but
it won't let me access the share. I don't see any options in file explorer
where I can enter my user account details which is where I suspect the
problem lies. My home PC is running WindowsXP.

Hi,
thanks for the reply, its running Windows XP Pro. I also have no trouble
connecting to the shares from another PC.

if your really serious about using your files on the network share. you
should really consider Resco File Explorer. the default file explorer on
your PPC (once connected) will only let you copy and paste files from your
file share. it will not let you "open" files stored on the share (so to
open a word doc, or picture, or mp3 you have to copy it to your pocketpc)
With Resco, you can actually leave the files on the share and open them.
they have a free demo of the product, and it is well worth the money.

Resco is a good product, but if you run into hassles too bad then check out
GSFinder+, a free explorer that also allows persistent network connections.
