Eh ? It's a PDA. It doesn't receive calls - in the same way that an
Iron or say a Kettle isn't set up to receive TV. The best you can do
is voice over IP and use the mic/speaker, so for example Skype :

http://www.skype.com/products/skype/pocketpc/
http://www.skype.com/help/faq/pocketpc.html

Of course, you have to be in range of a wireless access point
(and no, not a mobile phone transmitter ;-)

No you can do it with an X50v if you have an RTM-8000 or similar. As long as
you can get a mobile phone signal for your carrier.

I tend to use mine for gprs internet access if out of range of a hotspot,
but you can make and receive calls with it if you want to.

When you use Stanaphone you're assigned a phone number in the US. A caller
simply dial this number and it will ring on your Pocket PC softphone. Answer
it and speak on the mic, listen on the speaker (recommend a headset!):

Obviously assuming you have the app running, and are logged in at a suitable
data rate.

i understand this. and thanks. now, when i try to dial out, i get the
message that the unit is not set up for this type of call. it seems that it
is on a SIP protocol which is appropriate for email but not phones. how do
i set it up for PHONE DIALING?

SIP protocol is for voice call over the Internet. You will have to contact
the Stanaphone support - they have a very good configuration guide - or
check the link I posted before
