Take a look at what our lovely information source says  :

More about : end world

This also ensures us that ATI is working the same way even under AMD; overall it's good news but the concept of 'AMD' producing Intel chipsets is just shocking to hear

AMD will not stop the development and research of Intel chipsets unless it is not licensed to do so because this will hurt Intel but not AMD :D

Intel cannot stop AMD from doing so because the license agreement only covers the FSB frequency.

So after AMD bought ATi, I think the move of C2D to 1333MHz FSB is to stop AMD from manufacturing Intel chipsets

We kind of knew it was coming, but it is still odd. I think that supporting HDCP 1.1 instead of 1.3 is a little odd, though...
February 19, 2007 3:06:42 PM

acutally it had to come cos AMD can get over a mammoth corporation like Intel which can sell processors for lose and still make a grand total. And Intel new strategy says it all " lower the prices till AMD gets f@@@d up" AMD can't sell processors for too long time without making profit :D  :D  :D  :D  :D  HORRAY AMD days are just numbered

February 19, 2007 3:14:17 PM

according to the Mayan calender, all of our days are numbered.
February 19, 2007 3:16:10 PM

You do realize that's the worst thing that could happen for those that are AMD/ATI fanboi's, right?

If the competition goes, what reason would they have to slash prices? That's why you're able to enjoy cheap P-D or C2D prices!
February 19, 2007 3:21:28 PM

AMD is really trying to find a way to find profits...

... and the things they do hehe!

Well, ATI had already invested time and money in the chipset before it was acquired, so they need to return some of that investment.

hey u know that news of AMD might be acquired by some big corp! if forgot the link 8O 8O

Yes, I know that. And I like it though because that makes NVIDIA and Intel release better boards for better prices which benefits us (consumers)

And yes, there is a rumor that AMD might be acquired by a big corp. Some say Wal-mart but who know. is only a rumor.

Was just kidding with the wal-mart thing

Wht the hell walmart! 8O after getting into every American's kitchen and house they want a pie the PC also   Shit i will be happy with Intel or IBM taking over AMD but WALMART no man it will sucks
February 19, 2007 4:10:27 PM

why would it be bad? Brand name processors with rolled back prices!!

and rolled back qc, and rolled back speed, and rolled back cache...

That would be the worst thing for everyone, not just fanboy's.We need comp. to keep prices down and to push one another for better products.

If the chargers girls are gonna be involved I may have to fight ya on that one unless of course you are willing to share and let me have a couple of them. I can not remember didn't they have a redhead on the squad this year? If so I am calling dibbs.

No natural redheads, but Lindsay would look great with some Nice N Easy 108 top and bottom, if you know what I mean... Tell ya what. Bring another keg and you're welcome to share. After all, the end is supposed to be at 11:20 am Eastern Time so we'll likely still have lots of Viagra left over when it all goes "BOOM".

Dark strawberry blonde... everywhere... You could bounce a quarter off her abs... Lips that could... Aaaaahhh...

Er, can drool short out a keyboard? :(

No prob, dude. Glad to share. Just keep in mind that if you don't mind we'll concentrate on the chicks and not each other, 'kay? 8)

When someone makes a post with a topic like this one and I actually click on it, I expect to see BM telling us how great his new C2D processor is... and all you give me is an integrated chipset? Bah.

Posts like the one above make me think... why do people make Intel out to be so evil? Christ... we all have a common enemy... MICROSOFT! For every product or technology Intel has tried to force on us, Microsoft has done it ten times. I just can't understand the vehement attitudes of people towards a company that just makes chips... we're free to run Windows, Linux, OSX or even DOS if we choose... and to a large degree the chips are the same damned thing among the competitors... I just don't get it.

INTEL is a Microsoft wannabe. If AMD wasn't around INTEL would have been on that stupid clock speed increase fetish known as Netbust to the point we'd be paying double what we are now on a performance/price basis.

Oh we do hate Microsoft!!!!! But there is no real alternative the support for games on Linux is horrible, and drivers for new hardware nonexistent. If I go out and get the new C&C game day of release in Linux or a R600 driver sign me up. OSX please LOL, DOS ??? still Microsoft just ancient.

2x8 + 1 x4 PCIe lanes? what were they thinking? (other than trying to commit suicide)?

    I believe in an equal split in the market .Intel was found guilty by the JFTC of making deals to exclude AMD from sales.Endyen supplied the link in another thread.

EDIT I believe that Intel has done this ac ross the board but has successfully obscured it from the AFTC.Actions like this are usually as wide as the companies influence in their respective markets; But, just because the proof is found in asia doesnt mean it wasnt purposefully corrupted beyond adequate description here.

That type of activity is inexcusable and worthy of condemnation by all as having both in the market suits us as consumers ,and is much more beneficial to all.

Intel was not "found guilty" they agreed to a plea settlement rather than lose in court small nit.

AMD currently has a suit against Intel for the same thing in the US where they are using documentation from the JFTC as evidence the program to buy Intel brand loyalty was widespread.

I agree that we ought to pressurise the hardware manufacturers and game developers into more support for Linux/anything other than just Windows. Some game developers already offer Linux versions of stuff. Most notable is Unreal Torunament, god bless 'em.

I prefer to buy games that also have Linux versions, and never buy hardware that doesn't (also) have drivers under Linux. Thats why I don't ever buy ATI graphics cards, for example. They finally started to provide Linux drivers about a year ago but they still suck hard in comparison to their windows drivers, or nVidia's Linux drivers..

It would be great if everyone made Linux compatability a part of a purchasing decision when buying stuff, at least where there are alternatives. Even if you don't run linux now, is it necessarily true that you don't mind throwing away compatability in case you ever might? Also you can view it as supporting the fight against monopolization at least.

Intel Agrees To Comply With JFTC Recommendation

Intel Corporation has announced that its Japanese subsidiary, Intel KK (IJKK), is accepting a recommendation from the Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC) dated March 8, 2005. Although IJKK accepts the Recommendation, the company does not agree with the facts underlying the JFTC's allegations and the application of law in the recommendation. IJKK continues to believe its business practices are both fair and lawful, but the company believes that the cease and desist provisions of the recommendation will not impair it from continuing to meet customer requirements.

"Intel respectfully disagrees with the allegations contained in the recommendation, but in order to continue to focus on the needs of customers and consumers, and continue to provide them with the best products and service, we have decided to accept the recommendation," said Bruce Sewell, vice president and general counsel for Intel. "We believe the recommendation's cease and desist provisions define a workable framework that enables us to continue to provide competitive pricing to our customers, and benefits consumers and the Japanese economy. We do not accept the recommendation's allegations in its fact findings and the application of law. We believe the allegations misinterpret important aspects of our business practices and fail to take into account the competitive environment within which Intel and its customers compete."

They were not "Found Guilty" as that is a legal declaration of guilt wheras they were not in court they "decided to accept the recommendation" of commision. Suffice it to say INTEL got caught red handed.
February 21, 2007 4:52:34 PM

has just AMD taken a privileged position over intel ?

as the agreement is still in place, intel will send an engineering sample to amd to ensure the chpset compatibility letting them know what range will be the next generation cpu....

while intel won't know what amd's next gen strength will be.

for amd, it's like playing poker while you know what are the cards...

this will be good for consumers, power will go up and price will go down
