Been learning a lot about the various connection methods and am comfortable
with the video side of things. Have DVD component connections to a
Panasonic PT47x54 and am very happy with the quality.

Audio....I've got some questions. I'm close to buying a Panasonic SC-HT720S
Home Theatre package and looks like it will be good for DVDs with 5.1
surround so I think I'm Ok there.

My question is on either the Rogers HD cable or Bell ExpressVu packages
(still decideing which I'll get), both seem to indicate they can provide the
5.1 format audio on programs they are broadcasting (provided they have it).
Does this require a special audio connection to the receiver?

I want to make sure I don't make a mistake with the Home Theatre package I
buy and want to make sure the right connections are there. The Panasonic
doesn't appear to support anything other than RCA R and L channel
connections for audio input and I'm suspicious as to whether this will
really support the 5.1 audio format. Am I just going to end up with stereo?
I'm trying to learn about other options and see a lot of digital audio
connections and optical connections.

Comments? What connectivity does Rogers or ExpressVu
provide?..............wanting to do it right the first time.

Thanks.

For Dolby Digital 5.1/6.1 or DD EX or DD ProLogic II Audio...

You need an Optical TOS link or Digital Coax Inputs

and Outputs... Either cable system will do...

THen there is PCM or Bit Stream processing 'Output'

Bit Stream gives you full DD 5.1/6.1 or DD EX digital Audio...

My Panny 35S Audio was not set to Bit Stream Out

and generated just plan Stereo sound....

until I corrected the DVD setup...

Bit Stream out from a DVD is important...

to do Dolby Digital Sound processing...
