Question for Quicktime based NLE editors and HD

Forum Graphics & Displays : TV Tuner Cards Question for Quicktime based NLE editors and HD

Folks-

I'm looking for a card PCI Express/PCI that will output an HD signal to an HD monitor using a Quicktime based NLE (Avid).

Please help! I'm trying to avoid spending 20K+ (as if) on an Adrenaline box just to output an HD signal (720P/1080i) to a flatscreen.

The latest version of Xpress Pro will do fullscreen playback of HD footage from the timeline: is there a video card which can output to an HD monitor as well as the PC monitor?

Not exactly sure what you're looking for, or your actual budget, other than under $20K, but these are a couple of resources I've got. If you don't see what you need, I would think the folks at B&H would be able to steer you in the right direction.

First, thanks to the fast responders. (I'm also running a PC).

Yes- I've tried to make that work too- with no success. Perpaps I'll upgrade to the latest and try again.

Right now my present configuration is: NVidia dual-DVI to 2 monitors and I have a 3rd (broadcast) monitor that I've been using for SD playback from the MOJO.

I do have a video card that has an HD output breakout box, but it will only support a 2-monitor configuration.

If I understand you correctly, I should be able to use the Avid feature (assuming it works properly) using one computer monitor and one HD monitor?

Thank you- I'm actually running Avid on a PC. If I had FCP or even Premiere, I would have a whole world of options.

Assuming that the card can output the same video to the PC monitor and the HD monitor at the same time, yes. Basically it just takes over the entire screen for playback, so you'd need to somehow feed that video out to the HDTV.

Thinking about it, it's possible there could be color conversion issues so you wouldn't get an accurate output on the HD monitor though (e.g. all the RGB/701/609 color space differences).
