Well for those people that have seen the "mods" to take a PSU and water cool it, I present you Koolances new 1200W Liquid-Cooled PSU.

http://www.koolance.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=387

Love the idea and the concept. Cost seems to be around $500, which is the same cost of PC Power and Cooling's 1000W system. Though PCP&C have been around and have more "sturdy" PSUs, so I give them credit on that.

Here is a quick run down of the Koolance system:

Type: EPS12V
Max. Power 1200W Continuous, 1400W Peak (@ 40C)
Operating Range 90-264 VAC, Auto Switching
Current 15A @ 115V
Fan Dual Ball-Bearing 120mm, 30-107CFM, 25-33dBA, Temperature Adjusting
Modular Cabling Yes
PFC Active
Efficiency >80%
Power Factor >0.9

DC Output
+5V @ 30A
+12V @ 96A (12V1@18A, 12V2@18A, 12V3@30A,
12V4@30A); total combined 12V max = 85A
-12V @ 0.8A
+3.3V @ 30A
+5VSB @ 3.0A
Regulation 3% (3.3V, +5V, +12V) +9-5% (-12V)
Ripple 1% (p-p)
Hold Time 16ms min.
PG Delay 100~500ms
OV Protection +3.3V, +5V, +12V
OC Protection +3.3V, +5V, 12V
Temperature 0-40C
Humidity 20-90% RH
Certifications (pending)
Connectors
1 x 24-pin motherboard
1 x 8-pin 12V CPU/motherboard
4 x (1-plug) PCI-E
2 x (3-plug) SATA
2 x (4-plug) Molex peripheral
1 x (4-plug + 1 FD) Molex peripheral + floppy

For those that are wanting to build a 100% watercooled system, this may be your final step towards that.

ya that is cool toy - too much for me - anyone thats got $500 for psu - wow!

how does that fit in the case - radiator is outside in the back? it looks too large for a normal pc psu area

Waste of money period... Please no one be swayed by this.

Even if you might say OOO it'll make my system quiet... it still requires a fan to cool.

You can get a much cheaper power supply with a bigger fan that turns slower and still moves more air than a smaller fan, hence less noise and heat.

This is a gimick.

From the PDF file the "psu" fits normaly, and the screwed that you use to mount into the case are like "stand-off" screws for your motherboard and the radiator mounts on the outside of the case.

I agree that the cost is high compared to the other PSUs on the market, but this PSU would be something that a limited number of gamers/power-users that would be looking/needed a 1KW PSU.

PC Power & Cooling have had a 1KW drive on the market for years and there both the same price. So it gives those users another option in that 1KW market, since other PSU makers have been comming out with 1KW PSUs of their own.

As for the noise, the website lists it as 25-33dBA for the 120MM fan. Im not sure how that ranks with other PSUs.

I think this PSU is targeted towards those that want a 100% liquid cooled system, want the "Ooooh" factor, and/or would need 1.2KW.

SideNote: If they need 1.2KW, I want to see stats on that system.

Yeah, I'm sure they don't expect them to fly off the shelves, but if they don't come out with the 1200 watter liquid cooled PSU, someone else will.

I personally really like the looks of the new OCZ 1kw PSU, it is as small as a normal PSU (shorter than most actually) and comes with OCZ quality and warranty.

Like you said though, if they *need* 1200 watts, I would like to see the rig :p

In my opinion I think its awesome. The current high-end power supply of choice for a lot of people (not everyone) is this:

Not only is it not modular, it is only 1000watts. If I was going to spend 500+ bucks on a PSU I would defiantly get the Koolance 1200W water cooled. Not that I need 1000+ watts for anything.... lol but with the 8800 series of cards and ATI/AMD's option coming out... some day... power requirements are getting ridiculous.... If you want to run the next gen videocards in SLI or Crossfire we need PSU manufacturers pushing the envelope to keep pace. So for that reason Koolance is badass IMO.
