Does it make sense...

I'm running Xp Prof 32 bit. I have 2GB (2x1Gb) sticks of Corsair XMS2 DDR2-6400C4 CAS4. My mobo is a Gigabyte GA-M59 SLI5 which has a max capacity of 16GB RAM. I know Windows XP 32bit only recognizes 4GB memory max. Does it make sense to get more memory, either another gig or a full 2 gig (assuming I will eventually upgrade to Vista may later this year? Granted, I am running an Athlon X24600 and am also considering getting a new board and proc (intel) but that would be more expensive than getting another gig of RAm if it'll help boost performance. At this time, my system runs very well,so I'd rather not waste money on RAM if it's not going to be a huge deal. Thanks in advance.

I think I figured it out. Guess I would run into the same issue with Vista 32. Only variable, with my current mobo max RAM is 16GB, would it recognize more RAM despite 32bit limitations?

No. It would only recognize 4Gb max. Not as though it would matter no apps except perhaps video editing really need more that 2Gigs anyway. To recognize and address over 4Gb you would need to run XP 64-bit or Vista 64-bit
