FASTEST MEMORY AVAILABLE, FOR MY BOARD

What is the fastest memory speed available, which will be fully compatible with my current setup? Link to NewEgg for purchase and details?

I currently have two sticks of 1GB PC400, Generic Brand...
Please advise.

Probably due to your generic brand ram memory.




I would just stick with 2gb (2x1gb) DDR400. It will do the job and will be Vista ready for future. Stick with Corsair, OCZ, Patriot brands.

You can run 3GB and higher. But do you realy max out 2GB ever?
Today 2GB is overkill if you need more ram memory and got the cash go for it. 2GB to me is plenty.

Also, because your system hardware takes up some memory addresses, in practice the maximum amount of usable system memory under 32-bit OSs is about 3GB.
