Hello,

My department purchased eTrust Antivirus 7.1 for our Windows 2000 servers.
The servers are all located remotely and the only way we can access the
servers is through terminal services. I attempted the installation with
administrative rights using terminal services. After rebooting the server as
part of the requirement of the installation, no one is able to login using
terminal services. The technician at the remote servers had to disable the
software services in safe mode in order for us to login to the servers again.
After many days of contacting the CA technical support and the technicians at
the remote servers to resolve the installation and login issues, trying
various suggestions, we still haven't made any progress. Asking the
technician to install the software locally didn't solve the login problem.
Trying to enable the services again after disabling them in safe mode
resulted in Error 193: %1 is not a valid Win32 application. We tried the
Microsoft's solution,
http://support.microsoft.com/defau [...] -us;812486, to fix the
error, but that didn't work. We tried uninstalling and reinstalling the
software, and we got the login problem again. CA insist that the server, not
the software, that we worked on is problematic. The technician at the remote
servers suggested that we try other antivirus solutions.

Does anyone know how to resolve the login problem after installing software
using terminal services?

If we were to try another antivirus solution, what kind and which version of
the software would you recommend? Can the software be installed remotely
through Terminal Services? Are there issues with installing the software
remotely through Terminal Services that we should be addressed before
attempting the installation?

Our servers are Windows 2000. There are no email servers (which the support
staff said could mess things up) on the machines.

Thank you in advance for any help you provide.

Regards,
TT
