I plan to buy a E4300 to overclock a bit, but the motherboard i want must have a PCI-4E slot on it for my Raid controller card, as well as
there are only 2 965 based MB's that I have found so far that have a PCI-4E slot
ASUS P5B-VM and the Foxconn P9657AA
I found out the hard way that the ASUS P5B-VM will not overclock.
so that leaves me with the Foxconn board.
what I want to know is if there are any other alternatives/better overclocking boards that will fit my PCI-4E raid card in it for the price.
Just so you know,
x16 slots will accept x16, x8, x4 and x1 cards.
x8 slots accept x8, x4 and x1 cards.
x4 slots accepts x4 and x1 cards.
x1 slots accepts x1 cards.
I'm trying to decide between the Foxconn and the Asus P5B-E myself, but the Asus doesn't have the PCI-4E like the Foxconn's do, but all of the other features.

I am very much aware of this thanks.
If i got to a x16 slot though even if it is only x8 data paths... I'm stepping into the 975 based motherboards. and thus more $$$
I was thinking about perhaps the DFI INFINITY 975X
but the price of it here in Canada is just a bit to much.
I was just wondering about alternatives to the Foxconn board
the newer version(revision) has support for onboard raid other changes? duno

As T8RR8R says plenty of 965s have a 2nd x16 slot although the 2nd only runs x4 electrically.
They do tend to be the dearer 965s though a & as such, at least in the UK, can be dearer than the DFI Infinity 975.
How about http://www.ncix.com/products/index [...] /MicroStar though?
T8RR8R that boad isn't to bad...
it is an ECS, rated bretty low in the quality area but they are getting better... but how well does it overclock... guess i'll have to llok that up
BUFF - that MSI board is nice as well but it is getting up there in price...
haven't actualy decided on my top price for the board i want...
