HI!
I've got some problems with connecting two computers with firewire.
I've just read in Microsoft Windows Bulletin that there is need to change some keys in register (because connection by TCP/IP through firewire is disabled on start), but I can't find those in my Windows 2003 Serwer (I checked also in Windows XP - same result).
When I'm trying to Fix 1394 connection I get message:
"TCP/IP protocol is disabled for this connection."
Do I need to use special cable for connection between 2 comps (like with crossover)?
If there are some resources about connecting computers by FireWire plese give me the links.
You're limited to 15 feet between cable. All information I'm seeing says WinXP and Win2003Server will automatically configure your firewire connection for you. It should be plug and pray. If not, hunt around your virtual network connection, check BIOS settings even. I haven't seen a big need for Firewire except with digital media.

Info:
FireWire was originally designed to connect high-speed peripherals such as hard drives and CD-ROM drives, it can also be used as a very fast (400-Mbps) way to network two PCs. In fact, Windows XP automatically creates a network connection for FireWire adapters. The connection appears in the Network Connections control panel as 1394 Connection, and it works much like any Ethernet connection.
