I have a couple of GeForce 7800 GTX 512MB running in SLI mode.

How does this Gfx setup compare to the cards that have been released during the last 12 months (I realise the GeForce 8800GTX is streets ahead).
Given the little information supplied, is it possible to say that I would be able to buy a pair of GeForce 8800GTX cards and plug them straight into my motherboard? How much performance gain would there be?
This would be theoretical I know, as there isn't much out there that would push a pair of 8800GTX's but, humor me if you can, please.

Is there a link on this site that directly compares relative performance of my gfx setup with others?
I should say that I use my PC for gaming (in case you hadn't guessed).

Thanks for your assistance.

Your best bet is to look forward. Wait a month and a batch of new cards will be arriving, at which point the 8800 will be 6 months old. The March/April reviews will give you the info you need.
