Lately I've noticed this weird thing while watching the Discovery
channel (HD). I noticed that the brightness of the overall picture
seems to toggle or cycle over and over, so if you stand back and watch
the whole picture and not concentrate on the programming, you can see
the brightness cycling between slightly different lighter and darker
levels, it's subtle but still noticeable. This is very bizzare and it
doesn't happen when commercials are on, and it doesn't happen with
other HD channels. Just Discovery channel. If I freeze the image on
my TV, the effect stops. I've got Dish TV, a Panasonic HD widescreen
50LC13 and this is happening with all kinds of weather and as
mentioned above, on no other channels. DVDs look fine. Does anyone
have an idea what the bleep the deal is? I do know some channels have
funky things going on, like I recall ESPN for a while had some kind of
weird background noise that none of the other channels had, and for
the longest time, Disney would have a little black square in the upper
left hand corner of the screen, so I'm wondering if this is just
something with Discovery's signal.

I just recently got my set and cable box and have been watching
Discovery a lot since then.I've noticed none of the events of which
you speak. In fact, the thing they did the other day on the solar
eclipse in Antarctica was a breathtaking example of the quality
of Discovery HD and,I guess,my set (Sony 34XBR960).
