I recently O/Ced my Athlon XP 3200+ system. I have 2x512 Ballistix which is rated for 2.8 V @ 2-2-2-6.

When my FSB is 220 MHz, I have to drop the CAS# Latency to 2.5 or else I get 5 short beeps and no POST. The FSB:DRAM is 1:1 by the way and the system is stable @ these settings.

Am I better off lowering the FSB and running @ 2-2-2-6? How much is that 1/2 clock hurting procesor efficiency? I would think I want the faster clock and lower CAS# Latency but what do I know!

Thanks for the info all!

You wont notice any difference. Keep the high clock, the trade is always done between clock frequency and ram timings. Most programs need higher clock speed and in the case of your xp higher clock would be better. However, I heard somewhere those old xps benefit from fsb ration being 1:1.
