Hi,

Having been impressed with my wife's Acer N30, I decided to buy one for
myself.

I'm having problems getting the Bluetooth setup to work over any kind of
range - current limit appears to be 30cm!

I'm testing against a PC with a BT-usb adapter. Using my wife's machine
I can happily send contacts, etc. using BT over several metres (limited
to my small office). Using my machine, the connection will only be made
when within 30cm of the PC adapter.

The range is less when doing an Acer-to-Acer transmission.

The set-up's on both appear to be the same, with the exception that my
machine has ROM version 1.00.17 (revision date 20040826) whilst the
wife's is ROM version 1.00.03 (revision date 20040510).

Checking the BT Settings on both machines shows them both to be running
version 1.4.2 build 02, although my machine has an Audio Gateway service
that is missing from the wife's.

Any thoughts?

Which ROM version?

I've sent an email to Acer support, but if I don't hear back in the next
couple of days I'll return the machine as faulty, get a replacement and
hope that it's better!

Sorry, should have mentioned this.

OS version:v4.20
ROM revision date:20040826
ROM version:1.00.17
Bluetooth Version 1.4.2 Build 02

I've taken the matter up with my supplier and will let you know what
they say. Like you, I'm hoping to change the unit since BlueTooth
functionality is useless!
