What was used to write to the usb drive?

To be honest, I do not know alot of the computer lingo that I see on many of these sites. I was a complete idiot by not backing up this information on another hard drive and I dont have any copies of my work saved on the actual computer. You asked what was used to write on the usb drive.. what does that mean exactly? Keep in mind you're talking to a woman that knows little about the computer world other. I literally use my Mac to Facebook, browse the internet, and for other work lol
