Candi watched wistfully as her father's yacht pulled away from the dock.
"I can't believe that Daddy won't let us keep the yacht here in Hoenn."

"Your father said that once we get here, we're on our own," returned
Sarah Jane. She checked Shadow and Lilac, who were sleeping in the
Pokebaby carrier, then adjusted her backpack. The rest of her Pokemon
were in their pokeballs. She pulled a Pokenav out of her pocket - Mr.
Worth had kindly provided one to each of the girls - and checked the
map. "If we get started, we should make Littleroot before dinner."

"Great! Where can we rent a limo in this place?"

Sarah Jane sighed. "We can't. We walk."

"I am NOT walking!" Candi put her hands on her hips and pouted.

"Suit yourself," returned Sarah Jane with a shrug. She turned west and
began walking away.

"HEEEEEEYYYY!!!!" whined Candi. "Where d'ya think you're going!?!"

"Littleroot. There's no Pokemon Center here, and I'm not in the mood to
camp out tonight."

"But what about a hotel? Daddy is giving us an allowance..."

"I'd rather spend my allowance on Pokeballs and medicines. There's
enough time for us to reach Littleroot and find a place to stay there."
Sarah Jane continued walking. With a moan, Candi began following.

"Do we have to walk everywhere? What about a flying Pokemon? Can't we
ride Pteryx or something?"

"Pteryx isn't strong enough to carry two people, and I'm not going to
call any of my other Pokemon here," stated Sarah Jane. "If you want to
fly, you're going to have to catch a flying pokemon large enough to
carry you or raise it until it is, get the Fly HM, and get a badge that
will allow you to use it."

"STOP! Stop being so mean!"

"I'm not being mean, I'm telling you the facts." Sarah Jane resisted
the urge to roll her eyes. "My friends and I walked the route through
Kanto, walked while we were in Johto, and now we're going to walk in Hoenn."

After walking for an hour, they decided to take a break. Sarah Jane felt
some movement from the carrier. A pair of Eevee heads peeked out.

"Fweee?" said Shadow.

"Curious, huh?" Sarah Jane smiled. She took out one of her pokeballs
and released Shadow's father.

"Nido?"

"Your children are awake and it's time for you to start taking care of
them," returned Sarah Jane as she unhooked the carrier from her neck and
lengthened the straps.

"Nido ni..."

"We're on our way to Littleroot and I've been carrying them for the last
couple of hours."

"Fwee?" said Lilac, tentatively poking her head out next to her brother's.

"Fwee?" said Shadow.

Sarah Jane lifted the two Eevees out of the carrier and put them on the
grass. They blinked, tried to stand on wobbly legs, and rolled over

"Do...." sighed Spunky as he put the empty carrier around his neck.
