im having trouble installing a printer through terminal service. i purchased a new printer (brother 7820N) and when i try to install it through terminal service to the server it does not install like the other ones. On the server computer it used to install as the printer name on computer name in session X. When i log off terminal service and log back on the port changes so i cant print anything. hope you guys could understand what im trying to say. thanks
You need to look at the dhcp log of the router to get the ip address. Then run add a printer wizard and select network printer. Enter the IP, then add the drivers.

Sounds like you need to assign a fixed IP address to the printer server. Do that in either your printer server setup or your router admin utility.
I'm goona guess you arn't setting up a network printer at all. Rather you are wanting to setup your windows terminal services client to connect your local printer to your remote session.
Does more than one person connect to that server via terminal services?

yea i did not set up a network printer. there is 2 different location that connects through terminal service. the weird thing is long time ago when i installed the printer it used to have a ( ) saying the session with the computer name but now it just installs the printer and when that computer logs off the printer still remains
Are you running server 2003?
I tried this on a few of my servers running 2003 and they did about the same thing. One showed the computer name in () but would make a new one/keep the old one after every connection. This is very interesting, I'll play with this as soon as I can. If you find the answer please share it w/ us
A new version of terminal services just came out. It cleared up the printer weirdness for me, hopefully it does the same for you.
Install it on both your server and workstation.
