I am trying to enter phone numbers with just 4 digit pager numbers
separated by a slash. When I do this, it changes it to a 10 digit
number with area code e.g. if I enter 1664/8577, it will change to
(xxx)664-8577 (xxx is my local area code). How do I go about entering
these so that they show up as entered. Thanks.

Jeff

If you are using an HP unit such as HX4700 series, try the just released ROM
as this is one of the issues they addressed

Would like to know more about what they changed.

The reason for the page article at http://bevhoward.com/PPCDun.htm is to
help understand what ms' intent was and to preclude users from thowing
away some powerful functionality by adopting a quick fix.

In the case of the OP, to preclude outlook from appending the user's
home area code, simply tap tools/options in contacts and blank the area
code...

....doing so, however, will lead to significant future work as the number
of contacts increase, the user moves and if the user starts using
contacts with a phone edition.
