will run XP for the time being but upgrade to Vista after SP1

with the anouncement that the r600 is delayed again i cannot put off my PC purchase any more (my current comp cant run Supreme Commander)
and i have put together this build

Opinions would be greatly appreciated

i understand there are a few issues regarding the 680i boards have these been resolved?
what revision should i be looking for

the Ram is very cheap and according to ramlist it uses Micron D9GMH (B6-3) (same as dominators) why is it cheaper?

any other comments would be greatly appreciated

oh i intend to game accross two monitors so GTX is preferred and i cant really wait for the r600 i have waited long enough!

i was looking at the DFI Lanparty rd600 any opinions on this (it has a better feature set than the EVGA 680i)
thanks guys

Splendid
It's the 2nd "Supreme Commander makes me upgrade" thread I've seen in this forum. I'm a huge fan of this game as well. TA was the best.

Looks hot. I suggest you read as many reputable reviews of this board & maybe 680i mobo shootouts as possible. There are still issues. The pressing ones have been solved. Such as raid data corruption.

http://www.evga.com/community/messageboard/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=26

The Intel 650i mobos are much more stable & overclocks as well as the 680i. Did I say for less?

If you don't want to deal with any issues & won't run SLI, a good Intel P965 mobo is what you want. ASUS P5B DX, for example, overclocks like crazy.

You sure you don't want to save money by getting an IDE/PATA DVD burner?

Looks good, apart from the PSU. You could save £60 and get a Tagan dual engine, or Etasis one, both 750W and ~£110.

Please PLEASE tell me where you are getting your parts!!

Ah, and this may be a stupid thing to say, but I assume you already have the monitors? And why not factor in the cost of Vista upgrade, ~£70?

@akhilles
going to re read the shootout thread now the gigabyte caught my eye first time round ill see if i can find any more reviews of it
oh there is only a couple of Quid price difference between Ide and Sata Drives so thought i would go Sata to save on cabling (should read as 2 drives above ill change it now)
