BFG or E-VGA. I just bought a BFG 7900GS OC 256MB and its good for Counterstrike. I don't know about they other games. I get 100 fps on counterstrike.

But im looking to play much more intensive games pal.

My wishlist >> FEAR, Quake 4, DooM 3, Far Cry, HL 2 etc. (ofcourse i wanna play CS: Source too)

:D :D

Any inputs? BFG & EVGA are the best for 7900GS?

I agree with the eVGA or BFG. What res do you play at? And do you use AA and other enhancements? this makes a difference.
(all of the following numbers change depending on enhancements and situational demands)
FEAR extraction point : 1280x1024- 65 fps
1600x1200- 46 fps
Far Cry: 1280x1024- 49-120 fps
1600x1200- 35-93 fps
1920x1200- 30-80 fps
HL2 E1: 1280x1024- 70-79fps
1600x1200- 51-60fps
1920x1200- 40-50 fps

All numbers courtesy of Xbitlabs and can be found here: X1650 vs 7900GS and others
For the games you want to play the 7900 provides the best performance for the price.
And of course overclocking will only help your scores. :D

That link has been my inspiration buddy. XBit labs do a cool review + the charts are awesome. I would like to have AA & AF with supporting hdr if possible. I wont tweak resolution to high normally. 1280 x 1024 max.

By the way, yesterday happened to come across something.
Read from BFG & EVGA specs of 7900GS that, it should have a minimum of 20A on the 12V rail, whereas i have only 14A, how big of a headache is it going to be if im planning to use my Mercury 400 W generic PSU itself ?

Will my psu be able to deliver?

:?: :?: :?:

Ahh, I hadn't caught that. Sorry, but with that rebate its a really good deal. Too bad you can't hit it.

I'm pretty psyched about the card and my new rig in general ... bet you know the feeling. Good luck.

Thanks buddy, & have a blast.

Just one question,

does the pack come with 4pin to 6pin Pci-e power connection adapter?

yeah the XFX does too. Also a DVI to VGA adapter, but that's about it. The XFX has great specs for its price, but its not exactly packed with bonus items. I was originally looking at a Sapphire x1950pro that had a big rebate and I could just barely afford, and it comes with a bunch of cables and adapters, dvd software, a crappy game .. you know a real bundle of stuff. But its also plagues by overheating problems, so I passed.

If it's from eVGA then yes it does. I'm not sure about BFG but they should.

About your PSU. They are looking for a total Amperage, which in your case means the combined across the dual rails.

Thanks pal
across the dual rails >> whew... regained my breath :D

well, even if you can't order from newegg, you can still look at the pictures there. The 4pin molex to 6pin PCIe adapter is clearly included in the retail package, as well as one DVI to VGA/D-sub adapter. Actually I expect any good manufacturer would include at least these two items.
