I am looking for a good wireless router. Some of the things I want on it are:
1. Onboard USB slot- I want to connect a USB storage device to store music/media
2. Gigabit lan for the wired side
3. Reliable and fast wireless- don't want draft-N, mimo will work
I have 5 computers in my house, 2 wired, 3 wirelss that are all G wireless. I also have a wireless printer that I will connect.
My budget is $200 for a new router, any recommendations are appreciated.
Combining the functions of wireless access point, gigabit ethernet switch, WAN to LAN interface, router functions (DHCP server, NAT), and network attached storage server all in one box for under $200 is unlikely to satisfy your performance expectations.
Sure, you can do it, but don't expect actual gigabit performance on the wired side, or blazing speed in the NAS server. (I guess you can do it; I haven't looked; off-hand, finding such a combo device with gigabit LAN ports might be difficult.)
So, my recomendation? At least separate out your NAS into a separate device. Might be tough to stay within your budget, but, cheap is, well, cheap.
