So, a friend of mine wants to buy my 1950xt and my Tuniq Tower 120. I want an 8800gts 320mb. I also stepped on my Scythe Infinity a few days ago, completely destroying it. If i sell him the the gfx card and the Tuniq i can get the 8800gts, although since i would be tuniqless and infinityless i wold be stuck with the stock intel hsf. What would you do? 1950xt and a Tuniq Tower 120, or an 8800gts 320mb and the stock intel hsf?

Or i sell both, buy a 1950pro to replace the 1950xt, and get a TEC, like the Titan Amanda or Vigor Monsoon.

EDIT: Just though of something else. I could sell both, get a 1950pro to replace the 1950xt, use the stock hsf, and then i would have enough money for a case! I wouldnt have to keep my $1500 pc in a bloody cardboard box!

What are you overclocked to, and what are your current idle temps? And are you a serious gamer, because the 8800GTS 320 MB owns the X1950XT in all but heavily ATI favored benchies.

Not oc'ed to anything right now, as i said, cardboard box. Ive been waiting to get a case before i started to oc. When i do oc ill go no higher then 2.4-2.6. My idle temps are around 25-30c (My room is pretty cold.) Im not a really serious gamer, i play the occasional hour of Oblivion, and i just ordered CSS, so ill be playing the sh*t out of that in the coming weeks.

The Titan Amanda Is HUGE! Wow, never knew about it until I just googled it and WOW. I think the Vigor Monsoon however is pretty overpriced. Rather just pay for a Watercooling setup to keep my processor cool. I'd say Sell the X1950XT, use your stock HSF seeing as your not overclocking your 6300 and find yourself a nice case to use. Did not realize you didn't have one at the time.

Yeah, im leaning towards doing that. I really need a case, the cardboard box thing isnt really working out. I might just sell the 1950xt and get a cheaper case ($100-120 range instead of the $150 the TT Armor costs.). That way i can keep my Tuniq, get a case, and finally oc this damned C2D! Anybody else?

Ok, my 2 cents worth. Try looking at a Chieftech Dragon case. They cost around $80 and are reasonably good. That's what my old Alienware uses and its been a good solid case through the years, going through a couple builds. I'm planning to use it again in a month or so when I do my next build, and its way better then a cardboard box. It should also allow the Tuniq Tower to fit prettty well

The Chenming 901AD looks pretty much identical to the Chieftec Dragon. Think they're the same?

They looks pretty good, but i think they only support 12"x13" atx mobos, not the 12"x9.6" of my P5B.

Sorry I didn't get back to you, I think you have a good plan. Even the X1950XT could be considered overkill for the casual gamer.

I think the Chenming 901Ad and the Cheiftec Dragon are the same case, just different names. It supports different sizes of motherboards up the 12" x 13" size, so it should fit yours with ease. I know my Dragon has different sets of holes drilled in it for different motherboards. Its holding its third motherboard now, and will shortly hold its forth. I've sometimes had to use the different holes for the standoffs, but I've never had any board not fit.

Some people complain about the front door being flimsy, but mine has held together for six years with no problem. Maybe I don't beat on it as hard as some people do. Newegg lists several versions of the case, with or without a side window.

The more i look at that case the more i like it. Only $80, its freaking huge, from everything ive read its really sturdy. The door being flimsy doesnt really matter, if i get it ill probably get bored one day and kick the thing off anyway.

Luckily i was wearing shoes, i bet my foot would have been a bloody mess if a hadnt been. Pretty much all the fins where bent, the heatpipes are a mess, im surprised i did that kind of damage to the thing just by stepping on it. I would post pictures, but i gave it to the same person who bought my 1950xt.

Atleast my tuniq is still intact.

Alright, ordered a Lian-Li PC-7B, $112.50 after tax and shipping. This case is just a place holder until i can afford a better case, either a MountainMods UFO or a Thermaltake Mozart TX.

Ah, so you decided against the Dragon/Chenming. The Lian-Li looks good and has a couple decent fans in it. Pretty much the same price as as Chenming too. Well, its time to say goodby to the cardboard box, and good riddance, I suspect.

I think im going to take a picture of the pc in the cardboard box and have it framed with this caption "My first pc lived in a cardboard box".
