I just want to say that I LOVE my e6600. Intel really got things right after the P4. It runs cool, it has a massive amount of L2 Cache, it over clocks like a freaking monster and is incredibly stable!

Its truly an enthusiast's dream. I paid $315.00 w/ free shipping for mine and its over clocked to 3.2ghz... and it SURPASSES the performance of the 2.93ghz Core 2 Extreme that goes for literally 3 times as much.... and I have so much more room to over clock.

Many run it stable at 3.6ghz.... a 50% over clock is unreal to me. I was a huge AMD fan and I still am.

I am really happy Intel actually got back into the fight after the AMD's A64, that means AMD is going to work their ass off to come back with something that wows us all again.

I really love this competition.... now only if AMD/ATI can get their act together and get a DX10 videocard out before Winter : (....

I'm not quite sure what you mean, but I was just referring to the delays on the new ATI offering of DX10 cards. I don't understand the delays, hopefully they are going to come out with a product that will push NVidia to drop prices or come out with a better videocard.

I too had the P4 before this E6600, and I am impressed. This E6600 is fast and stable. I also love the overclockability of this thing. :D

I have E6600 on AWD9 .. runs stable 3.6 @ 1.4 with some low watercooling @ 55C full load...

Runs really smooth, fast and stable . Got over 7000 points in 2006 with my x1950xt 256mb and its still some room for more ;)

Intel came back from a very long sleep mode to get the cpu crown back from Amd. Coming from the FX-57 and FX62 to e6600 was worth it. e6600 is a champ for what it offers. Iam not planing to upgrade any time soon.

My Vote: Its incredible!

I don't own one but it looks to be one of the best, CPUs on the market in the price/performance category. Sure kicks the crap out of anything AMD has to offer.

i have always been an amd guy but the latest intel chips won me over. i recently placed order for e-6600 and it iwll ship tomorrow. i can't wait to OC the fcuk out of that chip. i already have liquid cooling for it.

It's a good chip. It is important not to get carried away however with the dual core effect. I changed from a 3500+ to a 4400+ X2 and the difference was very noticeable - pure dual core horsepower, nothing more.

The fact hwoever that the E6600 was once again a noticeable improvement over the 4400+ X2 is testament to how good it is. I currently have mine runnig a t 2.7 ghz - I've had it over 3.0 but there is little point as it makes virtually no difference on day to day running, including gaming.

Its just amazing that at 2.4ghz its noticeably a better performer then an X2 at 2.4ghz. And having the ability to go all the way to 3.6ghz is just icing on the cake.

I upgraded from 3800X2 socket AM2 and I loved the chip and i ran it at 2.4ghz with no problems. It had decent overclocking abilities but it defiantly was not going to make it to a 50% overclock.

AMD still makes a good product and with the sub-$100 athlon X2 3600 they are going to own the budget market because Pentium D doesn't perform as well as the X2 in my opinion.

I have defiantly hopped on the Intel bandwagon... but I will be waiting for AMD to strike back....

Very satisfied with it's performance and it OC's like a son of a gun. Cooling is tantamount if you're going over 3 ghz. When I get my Patriot sticks on Wednesday, we'll see how high this puppy goes. I do enjoy that there are good CPU/mobo/memory combos available these days that allows your comp to scream without making your credit card scream. X6800? Why...when the E6600 is 1/3rd the price and easily Oc's past the former. $400 Striker or $150 AB9 Pro? $400 PC2 8000 or $200 Patriot PC2 6400 that OC's past PC2 8000?

The one thing I went a little nuts on was the Monsoon II. Of course, they now have a $100 version that does the same thing as my $150 kit. Living in the desert, I wanted a cooler that could actually have the CPU below ambient and keep it there. I may have to backpedal a little on my OC to keep it cool, but we'll see soon enough.

I'm presently doing 3.0GHZ at 1.32V, never above 41C doing TAT for more than an hour. How sage would it be puch it to 3.6 @ 1.4 like you in the long run? If T doesn't exceed say 50C under load especially?

Thanks for your time.

My vote, incredible.

I would imagine it would be very safe. Remember heat is your biggest enemy. Thats why I bought the GIGABYTE water cooling kit for my 3D Aurora case. There are thermal charts for the whole C2D set of CPUs somewhere on these forums.

Whats the highest e6600 day-to-day over clock here? I know a lot of people run theirs at 3.6ghz day to day.

Note* I am not talking about the fastest you have gotten your e6600, but what you run it at all day everyday!

If u dont exceed 1.5 v or even 1.55 with under 50C on full load then i think u can keep it that way... but it depends on every chip so its a small risk u will have to take... but imo it should be alright.

I love mine so much I polished it! Now it runs at 3.5 GHz

DSCN3432.jpg

I was looking for ways to keep this Processor cooler than 66C at full load under Orthos. I found a nice muli-Pack of Fine Sand Paper at a local AutoZone so I picked up a pack. I read to do it on a piece of glass to keep it flat so I used a piece of Mirror I had to put in the bottom of cases. I started with 800 Grit and found the Integrated Heat Spreader (I.H.S.) to be quite uneven leaving the nickel on the center at first then in two corners. After mostly filling the 800 Grit piece of paper with copper dust I moved on to the 1000 Grit. I moved the C.P.U. in small circles turning the C.P.U. every few strokes reversing direction as well. I used Brass-O to polish the I.H.S. till I could see my face in it. This lowered my C.P.U. Temp from 66C to 64C @ 351X9=3.16 GHz...Hey It's still faster than a Core 2 Extreme X6800 For 1/3 the Price!

I had too much Thermal paste after a reapplication of AS5 in the amount of just a small piece of rice I got 60C then I put my System in an Antec 900 Case and got 58C Under Load even at the incredible OC of 3.5 GHz.

Right now I'm running it at 3.0 GHZ and throwing everything at it (3DMark06, SuperPI, Intel Thermal Analysis Tool, CPU burn-in, etc) but never manage to exceed 40C. By the way, 40C was with TAT, everything elses stayed below 35C.

Lol my dads runs at 64+ in games unless undervolted. Using an Asus silent knight cooler, which i think is a useless zalman copy with a terrible mount. Check it out to see what i mean. Its big its (very) bad and it runs no better than stock.
