Greetings,

My mother has just moved into a senior community. The apartments are small
and space is limited. I was thinking that if we purchased the "right" LCD
HDTV Ready Television that it could also double as a computer monitor. I am
totally confused by the number of choices out there. Of course, keeping the
cost down would help a lot.

Can anyone give me some guidance? Could you also direct me to some
impartial review sites?

Many thanks and apologies in advance if this has been covered before.

Judith

Hi, Judith

You might get more answers if you left off the "Dr." - - that's a little
intimidating, I think. In any event, I'm certainly willing to believe that
your Senior Community is modern and forward thinking enough to offer a
computer connection to the internet as a perk, given enough money. And they
might even allow a private TV, but I think that would be quite an
exceptional arrangement. However, at 73 and both a computer and HDTV nut, I
hope I can find a similar abode when the time comes.

Okay, you want to know what kind of TV can double as a computer monitor?
Try http://www.sharpusa.com/products/T [...] 68,00.html . I like
the 20" set second from the top. None of the rest seem to offer PC
compatibility. For a little more detail see
http://www.plasmadepot.com/sharp_lcd_tv/lc20b6us.html and the price isn't
too bad, either. I did a Google search for "LCD TV" to find the Sharp site.
You may want to look further for yourself.

Good luck,

Chuck

I am just laughing and thinking about the time I found my grandma trying to
operate the TV with a calculator--it was the kind with a big roll of paper
on it! Classic. Good luck with your mom.

Chuck,

Allowing a private TV is the norm in retirement communities, and most DO
NOT have internet.
