Just about to upgrade my 939 agp system to a C2D PCIe rig

So far I am looking at

MB - Gigabyte GA-965P-DS4
CPU - Core 2 Duo E6400
Memory - 2X1GB RAM (667 or 800)
Video Card - 8800gts 320MB

using my existing case, a antec sonata and existing HDD 2x250GB seagates

any comments welcome.

thanks

In your spot I would use the 800. Are you planning to O/C the CPU? Also you will need a better PSU then the one in the Sonata case. You can move the HDs but you need to reinstall XP

I am not planning on O/Cing. and the 667 or 800 speed ram depends on the price especially if i need a new PSU. I was hoping to get by with the PSU from the sonata. I know I will have to reinstall XP, was even thinking of a vista upgrade??? Not sure about that yet.

Does it all look okay though?

PSU will not cut it. Your 450w supplies 2 rail @ 15A and 17A. The 8800 320mb calls for
Minimum of a 400 Watt power supply.
(Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 26 Amp Amps.)
The 667 will be ok, and should be cheaper although places will put 800 on sale at times.

Is that like "I wasn't planning on speeding, officer"? 8)

Once you get a C2D and start reading the impressive #'s the rest of us are hitting, you're going to want to join the party. Get parts that are "capable" of a decent overclock. I've got Patriot DDR2-800 sticks coming soon that are good for over 600 mhz(DDR2-1200) 8O . They're reasonably priced too, so it won't break the bank. Stay away from MSI boards. They don't OC well and there's no way to back off on the CPU multiplier....at least, not yet.

Would th Antec NeoHE 550W cut it? What would recommend?

The box will be used mainly for work so I want it to be super stable with some gaming on the side. With this setup it looks like I wont need to O/C to still get good FPS. I think it should be fine at stock speeds.

Thanks for the help.
