OCing on my P5B-E, and when I raise the PCI express bus in BIOS over 100, my pc boots into windows fine, but the internet connection stops. When I reset back to 100, everything is fine again. Trying to get to 120 stable.

Keep you PCi-e bus all the time at 100.

Okay, won't I get a small perf boost with a slight oc on the pci bus tho?
(everything else works fine... just the LAN goes out so I think its power related)

The frequency for the respective PCI, AGP and PCI-E bus should always be locked at 33mhz, 66mhz and 100mhz. When it comes to video cards, you overclock the card, not the bus.

Your PCI-E bus never gets near its limit at this time so you do not need to overclock the bus. They did tests using a graphics card on a PCI-E, AGP 8X and AGP 4X platform, and the graphics card (I think it was a 7900GS or 7800GS) had the exact same FPS on the 16x and 8x systems, and a small decrease in preformance on the 4x. Just shows you how much of the bandwidth we actually use.

If you can, try use'n a pci card. Yes you will get a small increase in performance by overclocking the bus, but 8mhz over is sometimes hard to reach.

Can you show us the MIN and AVG fps? and maybe the settings too

Just google "overclocking pci-e bus" and you are going to see other who did it with - minor results, stability issues, damage to the video card, corrupt data on hd, etc.

Just leave it at 100mhz. :)

Done and done. I just used the new ATITool 0.27beta to OC my vid card in Vista, so I don't really need to play with my pci bus anymore. It wasn't much fun anyway. :)

Doctor, Doctor...it hurts when I do this...

STOP DOING THAT!

If you raise the PCI-E clock and something stopped working....what should that tell you? EVERYONE leaves the PCI-E clock at 100. Just because there's an adjustment for it doesn't mean you need to go mucking with it.
