Hello, I'm hoping someone can shed light on this. I have a b-enspirer soundcard that I can't get the installation software to recognize. When I try to install their drivers, it runs part way and then gives me a message that says "Please plug-in bluegears b-enspirer device."
I've tried all the usual things - installing and uninstalling, swapping slots, etc. Nothing helps.
I'd assume it was just a bad card, but: XP recognizes the card. If I let XP find the drivers, it installs C-Media Oxygen HD drivers, which seem to work fine. I get nice sound. BUT - I can't install the software that came with card to allow me to adjust speakers, etc.
Any suggestions? Or, barring ideas, does anyone know of other software that will allow me to balance the speakers, etc.?
Okay, I fixed it, which leads to another question.
I did the one thing I hadn't thought of before - updating my bios. And upon rebooting, the icon for my audio configuration software suddenly showed up in my system tray. And it worked. I can adjust things now. So I'm happy. (Doesn't take much these days.)
My question - why would this happen? I can understand the card not working at all without a bios update, but software suddenly appearing? And, by the way, out of curiousity, it still says to "plug in the b-enspirer" if I re-run the installation.
I did try a different slot. That didn't make any difference (and it was a slot that another card had worked in).
I couldn't find any evidence of IRQ problems, but maybe I was overlooking something, but XP kept saying it was working fine.
And - to complicate the story - once I rebooted the computer, the sound card was once again not recognized by its own software.
In the end - since I was going to be out of the country and running out of time to try to fix it, I returned it as defective, and will try ordering a new one when I get back....
Installed the replacement card, and it works. The installation process still gave me the "please plug in the sound card" message, and I had to uninstall and reinstall it once, but it's finally working...
