trying to cleal install win 2000 professional on a
machine running windows 98, installation runs fine until
the screen where it says "saving your settings", then
installation stops with blue screen and error
message "unexpected kernel mode trap". Also tried to
format HDD and clean install windows 2000 professional
but same problem occurs. Any ideas?

Try updating the motherboard bios and run "winnt32 /checkupgradeonly" from
CD in 98 to check for other compatibility issues. The compatibility check +
HCL list verification are not an option, they are an integral component of
an operating system installation.

Should the board not be ACPI compatible even after a bios flash, install W2K
with a standard HAL (F6 at installation).
