Forum Graphics & Displays : Nvidia Buy or wait? any advice?

I have just upgraded my board and CPU (from Gigabyte GA-8N and 3.2 presser cpu to a Asus P5W DH Deluxe and E6600 conroe) and looking to upgrade my vid card, at the mo I have an XFX 7900GT do you think I will see a huge difference going to a 8800 GTS 320Mb (I cant afford any better) I just seem to be reading mixed reviews about the lower Memory.

The highest I will be running my games is 1440x900 (19" WIdescreen)

Anybody got any answers?

I would say hold onto what you have now, a 7900GT is still a very good card.

See where the market goes with the video cards.

Wait a tad for the Nvidia refresh and the Ati launch. More options might open up

Odd just thought I would put Fear back on to test my new CPU?

1024x768
2xaa
16xaf
everything else maxed (including soft shadows)

got and average of 110FPS
and a max of 212FPS

I really am thinking about keeping this card now lol!

The 320meg won't make a lot of diff (if any). Wait (and save up) till an upgrade will really make a huge difference. Just my twopence.

Hehe. I wonder how much DX10 cards will be when Crysis hits the shelves...

I think you will see a substantial increase, but not enough to justify $300, I suggest waiting until the cheaper dx10 cards come out, because that probably also means price drops on the current ones
