x1650xt. It just runs the source engine better than the nvidia card.

I've got similar system. Was a very happy build and is perfect for me.

However for your list I would recommend the 7900GS. I think that would be a better balance all in all.

The 7600GT is around $160 I think

The 7900GS is around $180. And the 7900GS Overclocks like nobody's business. I have mine running at 510/690 and I can clock it MUCH higher. So basically get a 7900GT for GS price.

As for your cooler...I have no idea. I just went out and bought a Big Typhoon. I dig it. Keeps it cool. Works very well. And is quiet. And fits perfectly on my board and in my case.

Good Luck M8

I'd get the X1950 Pro. Outperforms 7900GS and has dropped to 169 149 after rebate on newegg.

Unless you plan on trying to OC a 7900 gs. Personally I find GPU's to run too hot and loud to bother OC'ing them(unless you water cool them).

I've noticed each post suggests a slightly more expensive card than the one before it, so I'm going to go back to your original suggestion and say that yes a 7600gt will play CS:S just fine. I have a 7600gt and play at 1280x1024 with everything maxed except AA and AF, and it plays any map fine (yes, even Militia. I was a bit worried about that one, I admit).

The EVGA 7600gt is cheaper than the BFG, though. You can get it for $90 US on Newegg, after a $20 rebate.
