I know Fox announced they were going to try to do 1/2 of prime time
broadcasting in HDTV by Fall 2004, so has this happened? Any football
in HD?

The Fox station in Kansas City is broadcasting on such low power
that you would have to be standing next to the tower to receive
the signal. Only 1.1KW. What a bunch of losers.

Out of curiosity, what would be a decent broadcast signal,
and how far would it travel and still provide decent reception,
assuming no significant obstructions.

From what I have seen so far, you need to be at 30+KW
to get any kind of decent range. It will be great when the
FCC tells the stations that they have to boost their power
above the current test power that some of the stations are
transmitting.

One of the stations that I receive with no problems is
transmitting at 48KW and is only licensed to go up to
55KW.

Green Bay has had FOX local with full HD Power for 3 weeks

now... but no HD Programs yet... just 4:3 upconverts.

The FOX NY Giant NFL game was not in HD last nite...

in GBay...

Using a Channel Master UHF 3021 4 bay bow tie antenna...

mounted indoors... 40 miles for Full Power HD UHF

stations works WELL from both GBay & Wausau, WI areas...

40 miles is a Good minimum.. distance...

Get some advertisers to spend some money on HD spots, and place those spots
on HD stations, and you'll see full power.
Hard to stay in business when all the cash is going out and nothing is
coming in.
OR
being the huge HD enthusiast you are, volunteer to pay their electric bill
for one month of "full power" HD transmission. In other words, PUT YOUR
MONEY WHERE YOUR BIG MOUTH IS.\

I,m pulling in the HD from 30 miles road, 21+ by the way the crow flies.
The hell of it is, they say HD, but half the time after a Commercial they
forget to throw the switch.

Some are just Stretching the picture, it's not HD. But I watched the Playoff
of the Baseball teams and it was fantastic on my Hitachi 50 inch LCD.

The Green Bay local FOX-HD is transmitting only upconverts in 720p

Full Power daily... According to the FOX local WLUK -DT.....

FOX HD broadcasting will begin within the first 12 days of SEPT..

Date is not exactly known....

As a side note: NBC & PBS and now CBS-HD in GBay now

have and use Dolby Digital 5.1 audio for HD 'at times'...

Fox Network HD programming is scheduled to start in mid-September, using
some new technology that will provide a clean (not converted) HD stream
originating at the network and continuing to the local affiliate's
transmitters.

You'll notice the difference!

Enjoy...

Hey, get in line! That's a whole 300 more watts than here in Austin!

Needless to say, thanks to my no-analog Panasonic tuner, I've been
watching a lot less Fox this past year. At least when I do watch them,
they're the clearest analog station around here.

ESPN HD had the Packers/Seahawks on the other night. Simply outstanding
HiDef.
Too bad the Packers lost :-(
