Hey all,
I am trying to use vnc to get to my 2000 pro desktop over vpn from another 2000 pro machine via the internet. I have ports 1723, 500, 4500 and 1701 passed through to the fixed ip set on the box I wish to access over the web. The router is netgear WGT624 v2, Web service is Time Warner Cable's Roadrunner. The problem: I can use anything on the machine set up at home as a share, as in mapped drives and shared printer, (not sure about the printing itself, but the printer share shows up on the remote machine), but I can not get to the VNC desktop by entering the server name or IP address to log in to on the VNC log in screen. I have removed the router completely, connecting the home machine directly to the modem and it still operates the same way. What am I missing? Did all the security updates to 2000 pro disable something?

Just about to be "swept under the rug", (off first page), so to speak, and nobody has any ideas? What a disappointment this place and the web in general are becoming.
