Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty microphone problem

Ok I have the Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty Sound card with the front I/O device. I hook up my microphone head set into the front panel using a 1/8" - 1/4" converter. My problem is every time I run Battlefield 2142 it switches the port that it thinks the microphone is in from Line In 2/Mic In 2 to just the microphone port and of course I can't use my microphone while playing, and it is so much of hassle to change it mid-game. Any suggestions on what to do?

yea it seemed to do it on Call of Duty 2, but it is much easier to switch between programs so it isn't as bad.
