I have a Mitsubishi HD500 satellite receiver for DirecTV. When I use
the on-screen guide, it is painfully slow to use. If I press up or
down on the remote, the gude updates very slowly. If pressing up or
down causes the guide to scroll, then the guide updates even more
slowly. I can "type-ahead" with my remote several up/down sequences
and the guide can take 5 or more seconds to "catch up" with me.

It feels like I'm back in the old days of 33Mhz PC computers!!

Is the processor on this unit so slow that it takes literally seconds
to update the guide?

Does anyone have any experience with other receivers that have better
guide performance? I'm interested in replacing my Mitsubishi with an
HD DVR Satellite receiver. Does anyone have any experience with the
guide speed on one of those machines?
