The USA is a big place. Even though there are articles on hardware that have been tested, you might not be able to get all your parts at one place, or the place your shopping may not have the part in stock.
If you are used to building a PC, then do some regular shopping on the internet, or talk to the people you would know in the state your visiting. If you absolutely need high end PC within 7 days, you might be better off finding a pre-build PC from HP/Dell/Gateway or the such.
hehe no god no ,no more money¡ u guys have no idea of the effort im gonna make to buy this rig im gonna be eating only rice for a year!!! lol, i would never buy a brand pc but thx for the advice. im going to be in usa for 4 days and search like crazy, i gonna enter by laredo heading to brownsville, does anyone know a good store around??? or close to tht locations???
Brownsville, Texas? Closest mail-order outlet with walk-in that I happen to know of is in Houston, about 3-4 hours by car, one way. But their prices are not quite the best around, nor is their selection that extensive. http://www.directron.com/walkin.html
Some of the items you mention - the Striker Extreme, Raptor drives, high-end Corsair RAM, even the CPU - are not commonly sold at retail outlets but must be mail-ordered from one of the dedicated suppliers like Newegg or Tigerdirect. Typically, people who get these parts in 1-3 days pay with a credit card or Paypal, have them ship the items from warehouses across the country to a confirmed address, and then sign for the items from UPS or Fedex. If you know someone trustworthy in the area, they may be able to set that up - just make sure to order only what is in stock.
I'm not sure if you could get warranty, though, in case some of the components fail or are not up to spec. That's one of the primary worries I have when pushing chips beyond rated speeds.
Adding on to what WR mentions, sometimes shipping can hinder your expectations. To save money, most would choose the least expensive, 3-5 days. But depending on the merchant you choose, getting all your stuff in 7 days maybe impossible. For example, if you order on a Thursday, you might not get your order till the following Tuesday at the earliest, unless you really want to pay for overnight delivery. One thing if you never ordered from the internet, UPS (not sure about fedex) will not ship on the weekends, so their business days are Mon-Fri.
That was the only reason why I suggested a pre-built, if you don't have enough time to get all your parts. But depending on where you live overseas, perhaps the merchants could make up for the parts you don't get here.
In my opinion, the only bad things about pre-built PCs to me, are just the limitations it may present, as far as the most performance you can get out of a system, and upgrading factors. Over all, newer systems that are pre-built today should be able to handle anything you throw at them, unless your looking for a specific performance that it needs to fulfill your needs, or just a performance freak like most of us.
OMG thx alot GR, grimmy, i see than tht store has all i need so im going to try to find it, doh it is more expensive, but what dahack i can live of rice for 1 year n 6 months heh =:_] im also gonna prebuild an order just in case =:_] shipped by ups
thank you, really guys =:_]
also i very dumb question, vista ultimate can handle the 4 gigs??
Hard to say, I would say it should recognize 4 GB, but that is one limitation about 32bit OS.
If your going to run 32bit for awhile, 2 GB of ram should handle just about anything, for reg use. Plus you could save some money, and buy extra when you actually need it.
That is, of course, gonna be an awesome machine! But I think you should same some on motherboard and graphics. SLI wont give you a lot more performance for the price you'll actually pay in graphic card, électricity and air conditionner (that thing is gonna heat like crazy).
Plus, the nvidia chipset is a bit slower than Intel 965 or 975, so you'll lose some of your speed increase that you got from SLI.
So I would suggest changing for a nice some nice motherboard with Intel 975 chipset and only buy 1 graphic card and eat something better than rice
Anyway you go, this mahine is gonna need some VERY serious cooling and it will be noisy (well, you probably could make it pretty silent and safe, but that would be very expensive)! Be sure to have a case with AT LEAST 2 x 120mm fan to have a good airflow (and make sure the one that blow the air out of the case close to the CPU is a powerful one). Forget about using the Intel stock fan, with all the heat you'll have in this case and all the money invested in this machine, I would buy a "top of the line" CPU cooler.
