ntoskrnl.exe stop error during setup

when trying a fresh install of windows 2k professional using the four floppies, i get the subject error message. it is on a 160gb maxtor harddrive with a geforce fx 5600 video card. will the lengthy process of writing zeros to this brand new harddrive be any help? the error message suggests trying a different video adapter. that will be my next move. i have done everything in the bios that i feel comfortable with changing, i.e. the shadowing and caching referenced in the stop message. antivirus is dis-abled also
